Welcome to the Wakefield District Families Information Service website.
This website has been developed to provide information and signposting for all issues affecting children, families and young people.
The Wakefield District Families Information Service (FIS) is provided and delivered by Wakefield Council. It is an integrated service comprising:
-
Choice Advice Service
- Families Information Service
- Parent Partnership Service
From a single point of contact, we provide free, impartial, advice and support to parents and carers who:
-
are applying for a school place,
-
would like to access childcare or other services and support for families,
-
have a child who has, or may have, special educational needs.
The FIS is able to provide families with information on a wide range of subjects such as parenting and relationships, childcare, physical and mental health, sports, play and recreational opportunities, support services for young people, and much more. This information can be found in the Family Services Directory
The FIS also provides an information service that can directly support parents as well as referring them to services and information available at a national level through websites, helplines and printed materials.
Our Aims
- To support parents and carers to access services, facilities or publications that will support them or their children.
- To reach out to those families who may be at a disadvantage and overcome barriers to access.
