Wakefield Parent Partnership Service

We provide free, impartial information, advice and support to all parents and carers whose children have or may have special educational needs (SEN).

We also work with those organisations, professionals and school who support children and young people with SEN and their families.

The aim of the Parent Partnership Service is to:-

  • Support and empower parents so that they are able to play an active role in their childs education.
  • Build partnerships between parents/carers, the council and schools for the benefit of children with SEN.
  • Ensure parents’ views are heard and that they inform local policy and practice.
  • Advice, support and information to parents of children with special educational needs who are excluded.

Wakefield Parent Partnership Service offers:-

  • Impartial information and advice
  • Guidance through the SEN process and procedures
  • Help with completing forms or writing letters
  • Help to resolve disagreements between parents/carers, the council and school
  • Help with understanding documents and reports
  • Signposting to other local and national sources of support

We aim to develop partnerships between parents, schools, the local education authority groups for the benefit of all children with special educational needs.  We aim to give parents a voice so that their views are taken into consideration in the planning and delivery of services.
